Accessible and Affordable ADHD Diagnosis and Treatment
No need to wait weeks or months for an ADHD diagnosis. Get started with our pre-assessment questionnaire and then book online.
Have you noticed that your brain works a little differently from others?
Our nurse practitioners offer comprehensive ADHD assessments and treatment for adults in Ontario. They will partner with you to explore your symptoms and how they impact your life. If you meet the criteria they can also offer medical treatment to help you achieve your goals.
Life with ADHD is full of challenges, accessing a diagnosis and treatment doesn’t have to be one of them.
THE PROCESS
-
To ensure we’re the right service for you, complete our pre-assessment questionnaire online or over the phone with our intake team prior to booking.
-
Once your assessment is booked, our ADHD assessment coordinator will send you a number of tests and questionnaires to complete prior to your meeting with the nurse practitioner. Please complete these at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment (as soon as possible really) so we have time to review them. If you have any questions, you can contact the assessment coordinator for help.
-
You’ll meet with the NP for a 90 minute assessment interview. During this interview you’ll be asked about your symptoms, how they have presented throughout your life, and your goals for treatment. If you have them, it can be helpful to bring your school report cards to this meeting. To ensure we capture all the details, feel free to jot some notes down prior to the assessment (it can be hard to recall on cue!).
-
Following your interview, the nurse practitioner will provide you with a report of their findings, including a diagnosis, when applicable. If you would like this information shared with your family doctor, we can send it to them directly.
In some cases, to achieve a clear diagnosis, the nurse practitioner may need to meet with you for further assessment. In rare circumstances, a referral for testing or assessment by another provider may be required.
-
At the end of your interview, the nurse practitioner will discuss their treatment recommendations with you. This could include medication, lifestyle strategies, or ADHD coaching/counselling. In many cases it will involve a combination of all three. Medical treatment may be offered by the nurse practitioner, however, in some cases treatment will be referred back to your family doctor or another specialist. The Nurse Practitioner will refer you to our ADHD coaches or psychotherapists for the non-medical aspects of your care.

No, you can self refer. But with your permission we may send your doctor or therapist a form to collect information and to provide you with collaborative approach to your care.
-
We can help you find the right treatment. But we want to get to know you first. All new patients start with an assessment as it’s important that our nurse practitioners have enough time to get to know you and your personal medical history before prescribing any medication. If you have a recent comprehensive assessment, we may be able to book a shortened assessment at a reduced cost. Contact our assessment coordinator for more information.
-
Unfortunately not, nurse practitioners in Ontario are not able to bill OHIP directly. ADHD assessments for adults are difficult to obtain within the public health care system as there are few physicians specializing in this area and they often have long waitlists. Our assessments are comprehensive, but also more affordable than a private psychological evaluation.
The assessment fee may be eligible as a medical expense on your income taxes and some extended health benefits (particularly health care spending accounts) may cover the cost of the assessment. Please check with your benefits administrator before booking to enquire.
-
Maybe. You’ll have to check directly with your insurer to see if the services of a licensed nurse practitioner are covered under your plan. Unfortunately everyone’s plan is unique, so we cant guarantee whether it will be covered or not.

Diagnosing ADHD and mental health concerns is a complex process and we want to make sure we’re getting it right. Our Nurse Practitioners will complete a comprehensive assessment and provide you with a diagnosis if you meet the criteria. In some cases further assessment may be required.
-
Yes, nurse practitioners are medical providers that are authorized to assess, diagnose and prescribe treatment (medication) for ADHD and mental health concerns. Our nurse practitioners have a specialized practice in ADHD and psychiatry and they offer a comprehensive assessment that goes beyond what is typically offered by medical providers.
-
Yes, if you fit the criteria for medical treatment our nurse practitioner can initiate treatment or can send treatment recommendations to your family doctor. Keep in mind that most medications for ADHD are controlled substances and a prescription would be at the discretion of your physician. Given the specialized expertise of our Nurse Practitioners, they are comfortable helping you find the right medication and the right dosing to get you moving towards your goals.
-
It depends. Our nurse practitioners can complete forms for school or workplace accommodations, but some tax and insurance forms need to be completed by your primary care provider who knows you best. If you’re unsure, or you don’t have a primary care provider, please check with our assessment coordinator.
